About Westside Church of Christ
-
Westside church of Christ seeks to glorify God by consecrating ourselves before Him, communicating His Word, creating an environment that promotes personal and family growth, caring for those in need, and carrying the good news of Jesus Christ to the lost.
The Westside Church of Christ of Round Rock, Texas, traces its roots back to the summer of 1990. A group of approximately 60 people met in downtown Round Rock to discuss creating a congregation that would serve the needs of a rapidly developing north and west side of the city.
After prayerful consideration, it was determined that a Bank Building new congregation would be established, and the first service of the Westside Church of Christ was held on September 16, 1990, in the vacant Brushy Creek National Bank building on FM 620, with 134 people in attendance. Brother Tex Williams led the first worship service. As the congregation began to search for its first minister, several outstanding ministers filled the pulpit position. The congregation is indebted to men such as George Williams, Ed Wharton, Cline Paden, Hardeman Nichols and John Reese who taught, encouraged, and supported our young congregation.
God's blessings were evident from the very beginning, as Highland Joint Ventures, owners of the bank property, allowed the Westside Congregation to use the building free of rent and utilities for one and one-half years, which allowed money to be put aside for the purchase of land for a permanent building.
