Traditional Worship

7:45 am in the Chapel
This service with traditional language in the Chapel includes hymns with organ accompaniment. Because of the smaller space, it has an intimate feel. This service lasts an hour or less.

9:00 am in the Church
This service of Holy Communion is rooted in the ancient traditions of Christian worship in contemporary language with sermon, organ-led congregational hymns, and choral music offered by the Chorale and children’s choirs as scheduled. At Communion, the service blends traditional hymns and the best of praise and worship music with the addition of piano and other instruments. This services lasts 55 minutes.

11:00 am in the Church
This service of Holy Communion is rooted in ancient traditions of Christian worship in traditional language with sermon, congregational hymns, organ, and choral music offered by the Chorale. This service lasts 65 - 70 minutes.

5:00 pm in the Chapel
The evening service of Holy Communion has a more casual atmosphere. While rooted in the ancient traditions of Christian worship, this is a flexible service that draws from both the more traditional language and the modern language services. The music is organ-led, and parish musicians periodically share their talents. Preceded by a short service of prayer and healing at 4:45 pm. This services lasts one hour or less.

Contemporary Worship

11:00 am in the Hall Life Center
The 11:00 am contemporary service is a come as you are service that blends the ancient structure of worship (Scripture, Creed, Prayer, and Communion) with sermon and band-led modern music.

Awesome Worship

9:00 am in the Hall Life Center
Awesome Worship is designed for children ages 3 through 3rd grade and their families. The music is band-led, and songs are taught with hand motions. All service elements (scripture, sermon, creed, prayer, and Communion) are tailored for younger children.

Additional Services

Service of Healing Prayer
Sundays, 4:45 pm in the Chapel

This time is set aside for praying specifically for your own physical, spiritual or emotional healing, or for the healing of others. You will have the opportunity to lift up to God the names of loved ones in prayer and also to kneel at the communion rail for individual prayer with the priest or a prayer minister. This service immediately precedes the 5:00 pm traditional worship service.

Service of Healing and Intercession
Wednesdays, 6:00 - 8:00 pm in Sid Smith Prayer Chapel (Room L-25)

This short time of praise, worship, teaching and sharing is open to all. Those wanting individual prayer will receive individual prayer time with an SJD prayer team. All prayer times with a prayer minister are confidential. There will be prayer team members present to intercede on everyone’s behalf throughout the evening.

Choral Evensong
Sundays, 6:00 pm in the Church as Scheduled

Rooted in the ancient patterns of monastic worship, Choral Evensong is a contemplative worship service with readings from scripture, chanted prayers, and music from the rich Anglican choral repertoire sung by the Chorale. Candlelight and incense encourage quiet meditation in a sacred space. The service is often preceded by a 30-minute concert featuring Houston area musical talent.

Taizé Service
6:00 pm in the Church as Scheduled

Taizé is a contemplative, candlelit service of sung prayer. Simple chants, readings, prayers around the cross, and periods of silence lead us into the presence of God. The music is led by choristers from our children’s and youth choirs.

Wednesdays, 7:00 am and 5:30 pm in the Chapel
Wednesdays, 10:00 am in the Chapel with Healing Service

Morning Prayer
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 7:00 am in the Chapel
Evening Prayer
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 5:30 pm in the Chapel

The Daily Office services of Morning and Evening Prayer include prayers for members of the parish. Parishioners are notified by post card when they will be individually prayed for at these services.
