About Rhea Church of Christ

The Rhea Church of Christ is one of thousands of churches worldwide that have resulted from the belief of its members that the church should not be simply Biblically based, but should adopt the beliefs and practices of the church as it was established in the 1st Century. This means that the church has no practice that cannot be found in God’s commands recorded in the Bible, in the approved apostolic examples, or what is necessarily inferred from the activities of the early church or the Apostles. For this reason, Bible study and discussion are encouraged.

We believe and teach that Christ is the founder of the church, that He founded only one church, and as such it bears His name. While it is true that the word “church” refers to God’s elect or chosen ones, in a universal sense, “church” also refers to local groups organized locally for worship, study and service. These local churches are autonomous, that is, they are self-governing; they are not organized into a hierarchy, nor are they subordinate to an Earthly church authority. Where possible, the local churches have among their members: elders, deacons, and evangelists.
