Who We Are

Established in the 1970s and incorporated in 1989 to provide social services to the area of the Diocese of Knoxville

Member of Catholic Charities USA, the largest social service agency in the U.S.

One in ten persons at or below poverty are served by Catholic Charities annually

All programs accredited by the International Council on Accreditation

Named by Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest charity evaluator, as a Top Ten Charity fiscal responsibility. Also awarded Charity Navigator’s highest rating for organizational efficiency and capacity.

What We Do

Our mission is to help meet the needs of the poor and vulnerable of East Tennessee regardless of their religious affiliation.

We served nearly 14,000 individuals last year through 13 innovative programs and services throughout East Tennessee.

We serve those with demonstrated need, regardless of race, religious affiliation or ability. Fewer than 5 percent of those we serve are Catholic.

Our Clients

Children who are victims of abuse, neglect or other endangerment

Seniors, including the homebound, the homeless and victims of elder abuse

Women and men dealing with the consequences of unplanned pregnancy

Homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS or with chronic mental health issues

Families in hardship, including immigrants, refugees and rural Appalachian families

Families who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or are transitioning from homelessness permanent housing

Our Funding

A combination of private funds and government grants and contracts

Diocese of Knoxville contributes approximately 10 percent of annual budget

Knoxville and Chattanooga area United Ways provide approximately 5 percent of budget
