About Brushy Creek Baptist Church

Brushy Creek is one of the oldest churches in the Greenville area, dating back more than 200 years. We're a friendly church focused on worshipping together as a family. We believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for us, so we may live in heaven with God when we leave this earth. Until that day, we strive to live by the examples Jesus showed us in The Bible. We are in the business of Rescuing the lost, Growing in faith and Serving our God, not an easy task in the 21st Century. Yet, we’ve found by worshiping, working and even playing together with our eyes on Jesus, we can make a difference in our individual lives, as well as our community and beyond.

Our Mission

Rescue, Grow and Serve

It's that simple. Pretty much everything we do is geared to:
Rescue the lost,
Grow closer to God,
Serve others.

Rescue “Go and make disciples of all the nations…” Matt. 28:19

When Jesus gathered with his friends to talk in the hillsides of Galilee, he wasn’t making a suggestion. He was giving an order. Believers are to reach out to others and share their faith. BCBC organizes a host of opportunities for members to talk about God with people who may not know Him. Some of these activities involve travel through mission trips, others take place right here at home, including service projects, social events and organized sports.

Most importantly, we don’t just drop members into situations and expect them to know how to act and what to say. Our ministers regularly teach us how with sermons and classes, even private instruction. One of their goals is to make sure we can all become comfortable sharing how God has worked in our lives with those we meet.

Grow “We're not meant to remain as children…but to grow in every way into Christ.” Eph. 4:14-15

It’s one thing to believe in God. It’s quite another to feel His presence and represent Him with honor as you go to work, school and home each day. There are so many distractions and temptations that pull at our time, attention and emotions. Furthermore, The Bible tells us a new believer is like a newborn baby and we are to mature in Christ.

BCBC is committed to enriching the spiritual walk of all members, from our tiniest babies to super seniors. This support and teaching comes in a wide variety of forms to fit different learning styles. Each week our calendar is packed full of Bible studies, special events and powerful services, to say nothing of our prayer, support and recovery groups.

You’ll be amazed how your walk with God will become so much more meaningful when you meet with fellow believers on a regular basis, engaging in activities that suit your needs, interests and schedule. We want everyone to reach their fullest potential in Christ.

Serve “Through love serve one another… love your neighbor as yourself.” Gal. 5:13-14

A maturing believer is a serving believer. Why on the very night before he died, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. Think about it: the Son of God washed his followers’ sandy, dirty feet! It’s trite, but true: we can do no less. Brushy Creek is continually on the hunt for needs in the immediate community and beyond. Over the years we’ve come together to build new houses, feed the hungry, tend the sick, clothe the needy. Why recently, we’ve even served as Santa Claus to a small town down I-385. We do all of this to show and share God’s love.

When it comes to service, each of us has been given a gift. Some lead, others follow. Some pray, others serve. Some sing, others sign. Our pastors and project leaders want to help you discover your gifts. What are your God-given talents and passions? What lies deep within you that can be used to help better and build the Kingdom of God? Take a look at the many needs we publicize each week and try a few out. You’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish in the mighty name of our Lord.
