About First United Methodist Church of New Castle

Grace United Methodist Ministry was born out of the discernment of five New Castle Area United Methodist Churches. After years of serving together in various community ministries our churches inquired about deepening our partnership and began considering the possibility of a merge.
The idea was that we could be stronger together than apart. There was a shared conviction that if we came to form something new, we could become even more focused into living out our mission, of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. So in July 2020 we took the plunge and out of the United Methodist Churches of Croton, Epworth, First, King’s Chapel, and Wesley, we became Grace United Methodist Ministry.
We are now one church worshipping in two locations in the New Castle Area. We are so committed to our ethos of being a missionaly-minded faith community we have deliberately chosen for ourselves the name “ministry” instead of “church.” From its New Testament roots, “ministry,” most simply means “service.” Serving our community and the God whom we are passionately chasing after is precisely what we seek to do. Come check us out some Sunday for worship at either of our locations (our Croton Ave location meets at 9:30 a.m. and our Decker Drive location meets at 11:00 a.m.), or simply see Grace in action as we serve our community in the way of Christ.
