About Muskingum Church
-
We are a small informal church. We believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. We seek to glorify Him and serve Him. Sermons are Bible-based. A handout is included with the bulletin listing all Bible verses used in that Sunday's service. Members are being trained in righteousness so as to be ready for the return of our Lord and King, Jesus Christ.
Our mission is to follow Christ and glorify God. Our action plan is to increase our prayer levels, skills, and intensity, so the Spirit can glorify God through us. We are members of the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference.
The congregation chooses "elders" to run the day-to-day activities of the church. We have congregational meetings to vote on the larger issues. Men and women serve as deacons and elders.
Our church was founded in 1833. Originally it was named Muskingum Church. Then it joined the Presbyterian denomination. Until 2017 it was known as Muskingum Presbyterian Church. Then we left PC(USA) and joined the 4 C's. (Conservative Congregationalist Christian Conference). We have about 37 members, a dozen children, and several non-members who are part of the fellowship. You do not have to join to be part of the fellowship and participate in activities and small groups.
