About South Gardiner Baptist Church

  • South Gardiner Baptist Church is an independent, Fundamental, Baptist Church providing the needs of every age group. We emphasize the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation; we believe God has preserved the Bible and it teaches us everything we need to know about this life and the life to come. It is our desire that everyone come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour. Since we are a family oriented church, we have scheduled many activities each month, designed specifically for your family; suppers, cookouts, picnics, outdoor games such as horse shoes, volleyball, softball, and much more.

Every member is encouraged to go on visitation each week, inviting others to church services and activities and most of all inviting others to receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour.

Activities are planned for specific age groups also: children, teens, college and career age, and senior adults. Come and join us this week.

    Our Beliefs

We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men, divinely inspired, and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction; that it has God for its Author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture or error for its matter; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried.

We believe in God, the Father, Creator of Heaven and earth, perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, measureless in power. We rejoice that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ, His son.

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotton Son, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, sinless in his life, making atonement for the sin of the world by His death on the cross. We believe His bodily resurrection, His ascension into Heaven, His high priestly intercession for His people and His personal, visible return in the air to receive unto Himself the Church that He loved and gave Himself for, and then to the earth to set up a millennial reign of righteousness.

We Believe in the Holy Spirit, whose work is to convince the world of sin, of righteousness and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and comfort those who believe in Jesus Christ.

We believe that all men by nature and by choice are sinners; but that,” God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.” We believe, therefore, that those who accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, will rejoice forever in God’s presence and those who refuse to accept Christ as Lord and Savior will be forever separated from God.

We believe in the Church; a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and of which all regenerated people are members. We believe that a visible church is a company of believers in Jesus Christ, buried with Him in baptism and associated for worship, work and fellowship. We believe that to these visible churches were committed, for “observance till He comes,” the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper; and that Christ has laid upon these churches the task of persuading a lost world to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and to enthrone Him as Lord and Master.

We believe only real believers endure unto the end; that a special providence watches over their welfare; and that they are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation.

We believe every human being is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith.

We believe that Christian Baptism is the immersion in water of a believer; in the name of the Father, and Son, and the Holy Ghost; to show forth, in a solemn and beautiful emblem, our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, with its effect in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; and in the Lord’s Supper in which the members of the true churches, by the sacred use of bread and wine (juice) are to commemorate together the love of Christ; preceded always by solemn self examination. 1 Cor. 11:28

We believe that the first day of the week is the Lord’s Day and is to be kept sacred to religious purposes; by abstaining, insofar as it is possible, from labor and recreation; by the devout observance of all the means of grace, both private and public; and by preparation for that rest that remaineth for the people of God.

We believe that there is a radical and essential difference between the righteous and the wicked; that such only as through faith are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and sanctified by the Spirit of God, are truly righteous in His esteem; while all such as continue in impenitence and unbelief are His sight wicked and under the curse; and this distinction holds among men both in and after death.

We believe that the end of the age is approaching; that at that last day, a solemn separation will take place; that the wicked will be judged to endless punishment and the righteous to endless joy and that judgment will fix forever the final state of men in Heaven or Hell.

We believe that each church is independent and “autonomous” and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; that, therefore Church and State must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties, free from the dictation or patronage of the other.
