By sharing God's love as revealed in Jesus Christ, we are freed to live faithfully, witness boldly and serve joyfully.

Emmanuel Lutheran Episcopal Church is a Federated - Interdenominational Church, fully Lutheran and fully Episcopal, as approved by the Episcopal Diocese of Maine in the Episcopal Church of the USA and the New England Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America in 2018.

Sunday Worship at Emmanuel begins at 9:00 am and is available in-person at 209 Eastern Avenue (Rt. 17), Augusta, Maine 04330. Online options include FaceBook Live on Emmanuel's FB page or Livestream or recorded on Youtube. See our “Worship” tab for information about special services offered at Emmanuel throughout the church year.

Doing God's work outside the walls of the church to help those in need in the Greater Augusta community is important to Emmanuel. A variety of opportunities to serve within the church are also available.

Christmas Eve Services are important traditions at Emmanuel. Our Family Service includes the Nativity Story and recreating the Nativity scene – a service enjoyed by children and adults. Our Candlelight Service includes scripture and traditional Christmas hymns. The light of Christ glows throughout the Sanctuary as handheld candles are lit during the singing of “Silent Night”.

Christmas Day provides an opportunity to worship our God in thanksgiving for the gift of his son, Jesus Christ. This service includes Word and Sacrament.

Ash Wednesday services begin the Season of Lent with the Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion.

Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday and includes Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and leads us into the celebration of Easter. Palm Sunday celebrates the triumphant entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem. Maundy Thursday focuses on Jesus and his Disciples prior to his arrest. Good Friday walks us through the trial and death of Jesus. Easter celebrates the joyous resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pentecost celebrates the Holy Spirit being poured out on people all over the world.

Reformation Sunday, an important part of Emmanuel’s Lutheran history, reminds us of Martin Luther’s 16th century teachings that we receive grace through faith.

All Saints Sunday, remembering all those who have died. A special part of remembrance at Emmanuel is the reading of names of loved ones who have died during the past year.

Pastoral Services such as Funerals, Memorial and Commital Services, Weddings, Baptisms and Confirmation are available at Emmanuel. Contact Emmanuel’s Pastor at [email protected] or by calling the church at (207) 623-9486 to discuss your specific needs.
