About Trinity Episcopal Church
Trinity Episcopal Church, Russellville, is one of the oldest churches in the Diocese of Kentucky. Since its organization in 1836, Trinity Church has served as an Episcopal presence for the counties of Logan and Todd in south central Kentucky. Due largely to the dedication and devotion of its membership and support from the Diocese of Kentucky, Trinity Church has ministered in these counties for more than one hundred and seventy-five years.Trinity is a small congregation in a small community reaching out to make a difference in the world. The Episcopal Church has a unique understanding of grace and forgiveness through God’s love. We know there are God-seeking people in our community, and we know we have something of deep value to offer them. Trinity Church offers in a very special way the opportunity for people to experience a sacred-safe space; to grow in appreciation of Christ’s presence in one another and all creation; and to travel the spiritual journey with an open mind and heart. We seek to share this vision and experience with people who are hungry for a relationship with God. The congregation of Trinity Church invites you to visit our historic church and to join us for worship.
We gather each Sunday as Christians to hear the Good News, to sing God’s praises, to say the prayers, break the bread and share the cup. We find our mission in the power of the Holy Spirit and the directives of the Baptismal Covenant: “To proclaim by word and example the good news of God in Christ; to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves; to strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being.” We are an open and accepting community, inclusive and diverse. We welcome you to join us from whatever tradition you come. As a mission congregation, Trinity Church is governed by a Bishop’s Committee under the guidance of the Bishop of Kentucky, the Rt. Rev. Terry Allen White.

Ministries
- Episcopal Church Women (ECW)
An organization committed to one another and called to be witnesses of Christ. They provide a safe place where every woman is free to become the person Christ created her to be. ECW is made up of women of all ages, ethnic origins and socioeconomic backgrounds in the Episcopal Church USA, who choose to participate. episcopalchurch.org/library/link/episcopal-church-women-ecw. Trinity ECW holds an annual Christmas Bazaar which raises funds for community outreach. Trinity Church women are actively working to help people in need.
Knitting Ministry
Our Lenten knitting ministry began in 2008. We are very happy to continue this wonderful tradition as part of our Lenten practice. Our recent project was to knit caps, scarves and mittens for Logan County Family Resources 'Caps for Kids'.
Education for Ministry (EfM)
Every baptized person is called to ministry. The Education for Ministry (EfM) program provides people with the education to carry out that ministry. During the Service of Confirmation we ask God to 'Renew in these your servants the covenant you made with them at Baptism. Send them forth in the power of the Spirit to perform the service you set before them.' EfM offers an opportunity to discover how to respond to the call to Christian service. efm.sewanee.edu/about-efm/about-efm
Trinity has a lively and engaging group that meets after adult education on Sundays. EfM is currently on summer break. We will begin again in the Fall. Please contact Deacon Vollman for more information.
Community Activities
- Our unique buildings and visibility on Main Street provide special opportunity for outreach and service. The facilities are used throughout the year to meet community needs. Members of the congregation are supported and equipped for ministry both within and outside the congregation. For the health and safety of all, our buildings are currently closed due to the Covid19 pandemic.
Trinity Church responds to the needs of children in elementary schools in Russellville and Logan County who lack school supplies, food, and clothing. To help meet these needs, Trinity Church gives sizable financial gifts to the Stevenson Elementary Family Resource Center in Russellville and to the resource centers of the five county schools. In addition, the Church supports Russellville-Logan County Good Samaritan Inc. an organization that supplies food and other needs to people in the community.
Blessing Box
We are very happy to make this blessing box available to those in need. It is located on the 6th Street side of the church. Please take what you need and leave what you can. This ministry is intended to provide free, immediate, short term help 24/7.
Laundry Love
The story of Laundry Love began with T-Bone (Eric), a houseless gentleman living in Ventura Calif. In one particular conversation, a question was asked of him: “T-Bone, how can we come alongside your life in a way that would matter to you?” His response was honest and practical. “If I had clean clothes I think people would treat me like a human being.”
Every single Laundry Love effort, or Laundry Love spin off and/or partnership around the U.S. is attached to this man. His desire for worth and welcome is found in us all.
We all yearn to be treated as human beings. We never thought that this simple conversation 14 years ago would spark an idea that continues to influence and care for thousands of people every month. The creative and collective energy used to sustain, expand and share Laundry Love with you reminds us that every human being has tremendous worth, value and possibility.
Welcome to Laundry Love. To date, over 1,000,000 loads of laundry, over 750,000 people cared for.
