About Maywood Neighborhood United Methodist Church
Mission StatementWe believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Savior of sinners. We believe our mission is to go out into the world and make disciples for Jesus Christ by offering our time, talents, tithes and testimonies to His ministry.
Our Vision
Our vision is to partner with our community and establish better relationships by enhancing our outreach programs. We want to become more visible in the community by working with the schools, government, and other churches in the area. We will work to increase our weekly church attendance by attracting both active and inactive members as well as visitors. We strive to have a plan for economic development in our community as well as working to enhance our spiritual growth and connection to other faith communities. Last but not least, we want to enhance membership nurturing through bible studies, community outreach and weekly worship services.
Purpose
To renew, refresh, revitalize, and energize our mind, body, and spirit, to enable us to encourage and build up one another in the faith. By attending Spirit-filled retreats, workshops and seminars, we intend to “put on the whole armor of God ”to reach our spiritual goals, strengthen our faith, and bring others into the body of Christ.

Ministries
- Nuture Ministry: It is the responsibility of the Nuture Committee to develop and promote Christian Education that gives children, youth, young adults, and adults knowledge and experiences in the Christian Faith. Here at Neighborhood, this is done through several areas: Sunday School (ages pre-school to adult); Vacation Bible School (held each summer for a week); Weekly Bible Study (Wednesday morning and evening); Young Adult Study Group (Brothers and Sisters); Children’s Ministry (various programs during the year for children); Youth (full program of active service, weekend trips as well as full week experiences). In addition, we have a Tutorial Program serving students from a nearby public school. In carrying out these responsibilities there are chairpersons and committees for each group. Volunteers and new workers are always welcomed.
