About St. Augustine By the Sea

The Parish of St. Augustine is a welcoming faith community in the heart of Waikiki. Our parish has been staffed since its beginning in 1854 by the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, the order that first brought the Catholic faith to Hawaii in 1827. St. Damien of Molokai, who was also a member of Sacred Hearts order, and St. Marianne are our models in faith. We invite you to join us in worship and in ministry. We also invite you to learn more about the lives and work of St. Damien and St. Marianne at the Damien and Marianne Heritage Center fronting our church.

Whether you are members of our Hawaii ohana, part-time parishioners spending winters with us, or visiting tourists, we welcome you to a faith family rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and dedicated to living that faith through praise and ministry.
