About Mountain Brook Community Church

Mountain Brook Community Church exists to develop fully-devoted followers of Christ who love God and Love others.

While recognizing that we will not fully reach this goal, we affirm that God has called us to make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20). Being a follower of Jesus is a process of change, in which we are transformed by the Holy Spirit through God’s amazing grace. This change is centered on the two greatest commandments which Jesus said sum up the entire law of God: to love God and to love other people (Matthew 22:37-39).

We acknowledge that only God can change people’s hearts. Our goal is to create an environment where this transformation happens. We believe that continual involvement by every member in each and all of these vital areas is a catalyst for life change.

Worship – The highest calling of man is to bring glory to God. Worship is more than a service we attend. It is a God-focused lifestyle in which we place our dependence on Him and desire for God to receive pleasure and glory from us. As we worship, the Holy Spirit changes us (Romans 12:1-2).

Discipleship – Biblical teaching and applied practical life lessons help us grow in our knowledge of God. The more we know Him, the more our lives will be marked by spiritual maturity and a likeness to Jesus (1 Peter 2:2).

Community – We are not designed to live in isolation, but in relationship with one another. Relating within a close community of fellow believers allows us to identify with, trust, support, and care for each other. Through these connections we can spur each other on in our relationship with Christ (Hebrews 10:24).

Mission – Jesus commanded us to reach all nations with the Gospel (Matthew 28:19) and said his followers would be known by their love for each other (John 13:35). By serving others in the local church, in our neighborhoods, and around the world we can live in obedience to this calling.
