Service Times

First Presbyterian Church offers two regular Sunday worship services: 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

8:30 AM Service

This service, held in Fellowship Hall (basement of main building), has a more casual feel than the 11 a.m. service held in the sanctuary. In the summer (Memorial Day to about Labor Day) this service is moved outdoors to the children's playground at the west end of the Christian Education building.
The Sunday School program begins at 9:45 (after the 8:30 service).

11:00 AM Service

This service is held in the sanctuary. It is a classic Presbyterian service and features the 40-member Chancel Choir, accompanied by music from the largest pipe organ in the state. This service includes a children's time (usually a story) and often features the children's or youth choir.
Communion normally is served the first Sunday of every even-numbered month. During communion, food offerings for local charities are received at the communion table.

About First Presbyterian Church

We are a warm, friendly and caring community of over 700 – and growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ. We reside throughout the vast Albuquerque Metropolitan region and hold a range of views across the political spectrum. We work in a broad array of jobs, public and private. We love a variety of church music. We are united in our love of God and in our commitment to Albuquerque and to the larger community of New Mexico and the world.

First Presbyterian Church of Albuquerque had its beginning in 1880 under the missionary, Dr. Sheldon Jackson. The first minister, Rev. James Menaul, helped erect the first church building in 1882, a one-room structure at Fifth and Silver. The church was reconstructed in 1905 to allow for new growth and again in 1938 after being severely damaged by fire. The church then outgrew this location and relocated in 1954 to its current site at 215 Locust NE. Twelve Senior Pastors have served the congregation of First Presbyterian Church since 1880 and is now served by Rev. Matthew Miller along with Interim Associate Pastor San Williams.
